HOW TO BECOME A QUALIFIED DENTAL NURSE?

Dental Nurse Course Information:

Course start date: Start learning the same day when you join.

Who’s it for: Adult Learners (16+).

Course Duration: 1 Year.

Study Method:
  Online/remote via Zoom, WhatsApp and our Online Students Hub.

Lessons:
every Saturday (2-3 hours each). Theory and practical exam preparation sessions Monday-Friday at 19:00. One-to-one classes are also available on demand. After hours video recording of each lesson is available exclusively to our students.

Work Placement: We have a large network of dental clinics in the UK and we will assist and guide students on how to secure a placement as a trainee dental nurse, however it is also the student’s responsibility to find the placements themselves.

Awarding Body: National Exam Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN).

General Dental Council (GDC): Upon completing the course and passing both dental nurses exams students will receive the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing and will be able to register with the GDC allowing them to work as a in the UK as a Qualified Dental Nurse.

Course Fee:
£1800 (excludes NEBDN examination fees). This can be paid monthly, £150 per month.

Exam Fee: £485 (not included in the course price). This fee must be paid in one full payment once you start working as a trainee dental nurse. This will also grant you access to the eRoE and ability to complete your practical assignments. NEBDN Exam Information

Exam dates: November (written exam) and January (OSCE exam) or April (written exam) and June (OSCE exam)

Finance: You can choose to pay monthly.

Requirements: You do not need any specific academic qualifications to begin studying and working as a trainee dental nurse. As soon as you start the course we will provide you with the enrolment letter that can be used to apply for trainee jobs. We prefer students to have good written and verbal skills in English language. Your general suitability for work is also important.

IELTS English Test: IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is the world’s most popular English language test for higher education and global migration. The test is now available to be taken from home. More information and booking IELTS.

Overseas Dental Care Professionals are eligible to submit an application with General Dental Council (GDC) for an individual assessment to register as a Dental Hygienist or Dental Therapist. If GDC accepts and the application is successful, the foreign-trained Dentists will be eligible for registration. Upon registration, they can work in the UK.

NEBDN STUDENT TRANSFERS FROM OTHER COURSE PROVIDERS WHO FAILED THEIR NEBDN EXAMINATION

We have noticed that there is an increased number of students from the NEBDN accredited Dental Nursing courses who are looking for options to transfer to Dental Tutors.

We are pleased to announce that you can now continue your NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing course as a Dental Tutors student for a monthly fee of £100 per month. This will grant you:

  • Full access to our NEBDN learning material via our Online Students Hub
  • Animated treatment videos and labelling exercises
  • Mock Exams with over 2000 questions
  • NEBDN Written Exam revision
  • NEBDN OSCE Exam revision
  • At least 3 live Zoom lessons per week with our tutors

Requirements to transfer from another course provider:

  • Transfer is only available to students who failed their NEBDN Written or OSCE exam.
  • Ask your current course provider to complete a withdrawal form and submit it to the NEBDN. This must be done prior the transfer.
  • The monthly fee of £100 will be applied until you pass both dental nurses exams.
  • The exam resit fee must be paid once the NEBDN sends an invoice to us (£150 for the NEBDN Written Exam, or £300 for the NEBDN OSCE Exam).
  • One off transfer fee of £125 must be paid when transferring to Dental Tutors.
  • RoE should be fully completed prior to transfer, otherwise a £75 RoE fee must be paid to Dental Tutors.

Aim: To provide appropriate support in emergency situations and understand the role of the dental team within these situations.

Module 4: General, Dental and Regional Anatomy

Aim: To demonstrate an understanding of General, Dental and Regional anatomy and the relevance to patients’ treatment needs.

Module 5: Oral Disease

Aim: To demonstrate an understanding of common oral diseases, including oral cancer and their effect on the oral cavity.

Module 6: Prevention of Oral Disease

Aim: To demonstrate the preparation of the dental environment and support the operator during a variety of preventative procedures.

Module 7: Assessment

Aim: To demonstrate the preparation of the dental environment and the support of the operator during an oral health assessment. To demonstrate an understanding of current legislation relating to confidentiality. To demonstrate support during the taking of dental images, processing images and maintaining quality in accordance with relevant legislation and policy.

Module 10: Minor Oral Surgery

Aim: To demonstrate the preparation of the dental environment and support the patient and the operator during the minor oral surgery. To demonstrate appropriate patient management and communication techniques.

Module 11: Pain and Anxiety Control

Aim: To demonstrate the preparation of the dental environment and support the patient and the operator during the provision of pain and anxiety control. To demonstrate appropriate patient management and communication techniques.
